Thankful for a Father who,even when I resist,even when I try to run and hide,even when I'm scared,relentlessly pursues me.This is love.

Dancing and Leaping
"Tucked buns, loose curlsrosy cheeks as she twirlsheel toe, tippy toessilent steps so no one knowspink tights, ballet shoesposture ready for the cuescoquelicot, butterflydance a story...float on by"I was inspired to write this little poem while observing the girls do ballet exercises. Some of the ballerinas from my music class have recognized me in there and now use ballet as an excuse to justify their lack of energy in their afternoon class sometimes. Through those gleaming eyes, they try to elicit some sort of sympathy from me.Oy, these clever little ones.
Anyways, the ballet teacher said something that caught my attention today. To help the girls balance after their jumps (this combination in action is adorable by the way), she told them to imagine a string attached to their head that’s being held up by someone.
Surprisingly enough, I witnessed little girls vastly improve their one-foot landings and saw huge grins spread across their faces. It was a work in process, but that was all it took. No physical help from the teacher; no technical prowess on their part. They simply had to imagine someone being there—someone above them, holding them up.
Faith. I forget that that was all it took for Peter to walk across the water to Jesus—the realization that someone who CAN do it is holding me up so I can do it too.
Daddy, I pray for greater faith. Faith so that when life tells me to take a great leap, I will close my eyes and see you so clearly. That I will learn to confidently land on my feet because you never let go.
"If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me."-Psalm 139: 9-10

Morning Commute

"For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate." -Romans 7:15
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory." -Romans 3:1-4
To set my mind on things above. To find value in what is eternal. To invest in relationships and set aside selfish ambitions. To constantly check the motivations of my heart. To rejoice in Christ and delve into the things He puts in front of me every morning. Daddy, what do you want to show me today? Which part of your heart will I see today?
